Meals

All students at Clayton Early Childhood Center, once they reach the appropriate age, have the option to eat two meals each day – breakfast and lunch – prepared at school in the on-site kitchen. We also provide both a morning and an afternoon snack.

We strive to provide the most healthful ingredients available, including hormone-free milk, whole wheat breads and pastas, and locally-sourced, seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables.

We believe shared mealtime is a crucial part of building trust and community in our classrooms. Therefore, all meals, including snacks, are served family style around a communal table. In the infant rooms, younger children join the group in their high chairs.

For infants, parents may provide either formula or breast milk to be fed on a flexible schedule that mirrors their home environment. Teachers keep detailed notes to inform parents of each day’s feedings and meals.

Parents may substitute for or augment meals served at CECC with food provided from home. Our teachers will make every effort to accommodate parents’ wishes for their children’s diet.
